Ave Maria!
Fr. Angelo preaches the homily in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Missions at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC on the morning of the Pro-life March. He focuses on the need to repent by expounding the message of Our Lady of America, an approved apparition of Our Lady in the 1950’s to Sr. Mary Ephrem of the Precious Blood Sisters in New Regal, OH, which says if America decides to be a promoter of morality, we will be greatly blessed, but if we fail in this most important mission then we will see nuclear disaster. A good first step, then, is to set a good example by putting an end to abortion in our own country. During the march the friars and tertiaries handed out thousands of prayer cards and medals of Our Lady of the Americas.

Homily #6 - Fr. Peter preaches the Homily for the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord >>> Play |

Ave Maria!
While Fr. Peter preaches the homily for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, he points out that this feast is considered the continuation of the feast of the Epiphany where God the Father makes manifest His Son and this is a continuation of Christmas, which is the appearance of God on earth. He then discusses the meaning of appearance and perception and how we will one day perceive God in the beatific vision in heaven. He then points out that we will be made worthy to enter heaven through the waters of Baptism and how this is related to the pure water of Mary’s womb where Jesus first entered the world at the Annunciation. The Holy Spirit hovering over the water at both these events brings about the purity of a new creation and birth.

The Golden Thread #3 - Fr. Peter gives a Scotistic explanation of the problems of a secular culture. - 9 minutes >>> Play |

Ave Maria!
Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner continues his series The Golden Thread on the theology of John Duns Scotus. Here he gives a broad introductory view of the difference between religion and secularity. He explains how Scotus affirms the capacity to perform secular acts, which are morally neutral, and thus simple pleasures are not a sin. Most people would then say, “let’s live our whole life this way.” But Scotus also says such a life cannot lead to happiness. He then discusses why God enables us to do secular acts and how this sheds new light on the famous moral tests in the Bible, Adam and Eve in the Garden and The Rich Young Man in the New Testament. He addresses, concupiscence, original sin, the difference between the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil vs. the Tree of Life, between contentment and happiness, between living to do God’s will vs. striving for new experiences and between human autonomy vs. obligation and so the true meaning of freedom.

This was recorded last year at this time.
