Ave Maria! So here’s the first talk given at the Coredemption Conference held on Saturday 13th October 2007, at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, Greenwood, Indiana. Raymond de Souza had the honor of being the first speaker (or was it really an honor?) - we’ve taken the switched feed backup tape, fixed a few minor switching errors (no names mentioned!), re-captured the audio from the source tapes, and stitched this show together - please enjoy! We will be trying to post one episode a week for the next several weeks until we have the whole Conference re-run. Ave Maria! With today’s readings Fr. Ignatius preaches on one of the great helps in the spiritual life, namely the consideration of Heaven, and how it spurs us forward to reach it, despite the difficulties that we face in this life. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! Our first homily since the Conference in Indiana. Deo Gratias! Fr. Ignatius Manfredonia gives the homily yesterday, Monday, for a votive mass for St. Maximilian Kolbe and bases it on the readings referring to the three enemies of the soul: the world, the flesh, and the devil and how they militate against the spirit, or our spiritual development. He then points out that the flesh is the worst of these because you cannot run from the flesh. Concupiscence is always with us. Watch this video as Fr. Ignatius explains the need for penance to fight against the flesh. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! “Why did the Immaculate in person, appearing to St. Bernadette with the Rosary in hand, want to exhort us to recite the Holy Rosary? For the benefit of whom? For the benefit of those who have greatest need, and more precisely for the benefit of these poor unhappy brothers of ours - the Masons, all the more pitiable for the fact that they don’t even realize that they are heading towards their own perdition; nevertheless, they are brothers, because Jesus by no means excluded them from the participation in the merits of His Passion.” (SK #1133) |
Ave Maria! Here is the last word from Fr. Peter on this subject. It is meant to address comments in discussions going on here at AirMaria: Father Peter Damian Fehlner, S.T.D. Weighs in on Plan B in Connecticut And at Mark Shea’s site Here and Here And at American Papist Here Now for Fr. Peter: On the Malice of Contraception or Onanism. My critics, almost unanimously, define the malice of contraception in terms of the separation of procreative and unitive ends of marriage in the use of the marriage act or intercourse by the married. As one of these critics put it, since in rape there is no unitive end, there is no possibility of separation, hence no possibility of contraception. For the moment I will prescind from this point and merely note that I could find no standard or approved moralist writing before 1968 who defined the malice of contraception in such terms, or insisting that the sin was only possible for the married. |

Ave Maria! Fr. Maximilian continues his reflection on Mary in God’s creative plan. In this entry, Father reaffirms Mary’s exalted position through the eyes of St. Francis in his “Antiphon for the Office of the Passion” and in another of his prayers titled “Salutation to the Blessed Virgin“. In these prayers, Francis highlights the fact the Mary has a unique relation to the Trinity that no other creature shares. Fr. then explains how St. Maximilian Kolbe borrowed from and deepened this insight of Francis in his own prayer of praise. Ave Maria! |
Ave Maria! “The recitation of the Rosary is not obligatory under pain of sin, but what kind of love would limit itself to fulfilling only one’s strict duties, whose neglect of becomes a transgression, even grave? Such a way of acting would seem more like the service of a slave than the love of a son towards his most beloved heavenly Father and the most affectionate Mother. No, this would be unworthy of one who loves Mary! The one who truly loves Her seeks rather the opportunity to go to Her as often as possible, to remain as long as possible at Her feet.” (SK #1102) |
Ave Maria! “Only by prayer is it possible to achieve St. Augustine’s ideal: “Love of God to the point of despising oneself“, a despising not only imaginary but real, so that, always knowing ourselves better, our nothingness and our weaknesses, we may really despise ourselves and desire that others treat us as we merit to be treated.” (SK #903) |
Ave Maria! Fr. Peter Fehlner speaks at Steubenville University, at the invitation of Dr. Scott Hahn. The talk is on his book St. Maximilian Kolbe: Martyr of Charity - Pneumatolgist where he outlines the teaching of St. Maximilian on the the Holy Spirit and His relation to the Immaculate Conception. He covers St. Maximilian’s methodology, his teaching on the Holy Spirit, the implications in theology and some of the objections raised against this Saint. The talk is followed by a question and answer session. Come listen to this fascinating talk on this sublime subject.
