Ave Maria!
Father Peter Damian Fehlner of the Franciscans of the Immaculate is a well known Mariologist appearing on EWTN and of course here at AirMaria.com. He has been an important proponent of devotion to Our Lady of America.
Father Peter has been suffering from many eye ailments for several years. He is about to undergo another eye surgery.
Because of Fr. Peter’s devotion to Bl. Duns Scotus, the Franciscans of the Immaculate are asking many to pray the following novena in honor of Bl. Duns Scotus for two intentions. The first intention is for the canonization of Duns Scotus and the second intention is that Fr. Peter’s sight would be healed. Of course, the two intentions are complementary in that the miraculous healing of Fr. Peter’s eyes with such a public prayer made specifically to the Blessed for the cure would provide the miracle needed for canonization.
(To make the following prayer a novena, it is suggested to repeat the triduum three times for a total of nine days.)

Topic: St. John Bosco & The Blessed Virgin Mary (Jan 31)
Quote:
St. John Bosco:
€œDon€™t be alarmed; the Madonna will see to the payments for her church. I am just the instrument €“ the cashier.€?
Edna Phelan, Don Bosco A Spiritual Portrait, 242.
Meditation:
When Don Bosco began the building of his church (now Basilica) dedicated to Our Lady, Help of Christians, he didn€™t have enough money to begin such a project, let alone complete it.

Ave Maria!
A new major Marian Basilica has been started in the resort area of Cancun, Mexico called the Basilica of St. Mary of the Sea and of the Holy Cross (Santa MarÃa del Mar y de la Santa Cruz). It will take two years to open and 3,000 people will be able to attend Mass, a great spiritual oasis in the middle of materialism and hedonism.

Ave Maria!
“If you desire to live and to die happy, then seek to deepen your filial love for our dearest Heavenly Mother. Jesus was the first to honor Her as His Mother, putting into practice the Commandment, Honor your father and your mother (Ex. 20:12; Dt. 5:16) and we, therefore, must imitate Him. Since, even if in such a love we may have experienced I don’t know how much intimacy and warmth, nevertheless, we will never succeed in equaling the love with which Jesus Himself loved Her.” (SK #751)

Ave Maria!
“The more a soul renders itself similar to the Immaculate, the more it becomes the mother of Jesus in its own heart in a supernatural way. There is nothing in an effect which is not already present in its cause; thus it is also for Jesus, so much so that Mary is His Mother in a supernatural way and in a natural way. Divinization, therefore, occurs through love of Jesus, just as the Father is the origin of the Trinity in the supernatural order.” (SK #1273)

Ave Maria!
“Even if Satan were to lead a soul into a very serious fall, if he does not succeed in extirpating from it the devotion to the Immaculate, his prey is not yet altogether certain. But if a soul were to forget about his own Heavenly Mother and cease to render homage to Her, even if he managed to surround himself with all of the most diverse devotions and to practice all possible virtues, nonetheless, after the interruption of this channel of grace, he will inevitably roll into the abyss.” (SK #1293)

O loving Pelican! O Jesu Lord! Unclean I am but cleanse me in Thy Blood; Of which a single drop, for sinners spilt, Can purge the entire world from all its guilt . (St. Thomas Aquinas)

Ave Maria!
“The Redeemer, the Man-God, Jesus, came into the world and began His mission, He began to teach the way to Heaven, placing Himself in a state of dependence with respect to the Immaculate, as a son with respect to his own mother, and fulfilling the fourth Commandment during the thirty-three year sojourn on this earth, He honors His own Mother and He puts Himself entirely to Her service and pleasure, in order to fulfill the Will of God the Father. And from that moment, no one can become similar to Jesus if, in imitation of Him, he does not venerate the Immaculate as Mother.” (SK #1293)

Homily #080127 (37min) Play - Using the example of the calling of the Lord’s disciples from being fishermen to being fishers of men, Fr Bonaventure highlights the importance of living for God, offering up our sufferings for the conversion of sinners as opposed to what the world offers as paradise, indulgence in fleshly pleasures and the associated hardening of the heart.

Ave Maria!
“The Immaculate is Mother of the Head of the Church, Jesus, therefore, She is Mother also of His members. She is the Mother of divine grace, of the grace of the Holy Spirit, She is the Mediatrix of graces, She is the Mother of the life of grace, of the spiritual life. She is the Mother of the Redeemer (Coredemptrix), therefore, She is Mother of the redeemed. She is Mother of the Creator, therefore, She is also Mother of all creatures.” (SK #1334)
